Analog Inputs

FELYX provides 8 channels of 16-bit ADC analog input, supporting 0-20mA, and 0-5V ranges (an optional 0-90V DC input is available on some variants for battery voltage monitoring). The exact channel split between 0-20mA, 0-5V and 0-90V depends on the part number

Few variants of LYNX support direct analog read inputs. LYNX supports 8 channels of 0-20mA read. The terminals A1 to A8 terminals are available for 8 channels of analog.

In most of industrial applications, 4-20mA values are mapped to given process values. LYNX has advanced data scaling features to handle process values of different applications.

While user can perform scaling within Analog Inputs, we recommend using generic Data Scaling section of LYNX for analog data interpolation.

Types of Analog Inputs

In this section, we explain analog inputs using our standard product FELYX81. FELYX81 has 8 analog terminals: A1, A2, A3, A4, C5, C6, C7 and D8.

The first character of the terminal name shows the type of input:

  • A – Current input, 0-20mA. Use it for 4-20mA sensors.

  • C – Voltage input, 0-5V DC. Use it for sensors with voltage output.

  • D – High voltage input, 0-90V DC. Use it for battery or solar panel voltage.

The number after the letter is the channel number (1 to 8).

The actual analog terminals depend on the FELYX part number. For example, FELYX83 has 7 voltage inputs (C) and FELYX85 has 7 current inputs (A). Refer to the part number being used, and see the FELYX catalog for the channel details of each model.

By default, all analog values are measured with respect to ground (GND).

FELYX also supports:

  • Low voltage range of 0-2.5V with respect to ground, by changing the ADC gain.

  • 0-250mV range using differential voltage between two terminals.

These options are covered in the Advanced Analog Settings section.

Important: Always make sure that the correct voltage or current is given to each analog terminal. For example, do not connect more than 5V to a C terminal or more than 20mA to an A terminal. FELYX has suitable fuses, but incorrect usage may damage the analog input.

Step#1 Enable Analog Inputs

The actual analog channel configuration is carried out and saved separately through the Analog Wizard. However, the device will process analog inputs only when the Analog Inputs checkbox is enabled under Feature Settings.

Therefore, this checkbox acts as the master enable for analog input processing.

Step 2: Open the Analog Wizard

Go to the Analog page under Sensor Settings.

Under Analog Input Configuration, click Open Analog Wizard.

Similar to other configurable FELYX features, all analog channel settings are managed through this wizard rather than directly on the main configuration page.

Step 3: Configure the Analog Channels

The Channel Matrix page of the Analog Wizard displays all available analog channels and their configuration parameters.

For each channel, the user can:

  • Enable or disable the individual channel.

  • Select the required Topology according to the available hardware input.

  • Define the Input Min–Max range.

  • Define the corresponding Output Min–Max range.

  • Apply a Multiplier, if required.

  • Assign a Variable name.

  • Assign an optional Backup Variable.

After completing the configuration, click Save & Close to save the Analog Wizard settings.

Only channels whose individual Enable checkbox is selected will be processed, provided that the main Analog Inputs feature has also been enabled under Device Settings.
